When my fur baby Badger joined my life in 2009, at 8 weeks old, I decided that i wanted to dedicate my life to creating the best for him, and other dogs that would be as lucky and so the dream of Camp K9 was born – A campus similar to that of a scout camp, for dogs, where they could have fun all day developing their skills, finding out what made them tick, making friends and becoming the best version of themselves as possible.
My Partner Brian quickly joined me in this venture, and our dream has grown from there.
In order to give a group of dogs the freedom to express themselves we also needed to have the control over them so they could do that safely, training puppies was easy enough, training owners on how best to train puppies and dogs to enhance their bond and communication skills lead to us gaining qualifications with the APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) and further qualifications with Puppy Life Skills.
Learning about dogs becomes rather addictive, as did helping those in challenging situations, so Brian decided to qualify in an Animal Behavioural Degree Specialising in Dogs in 2015/16 to assist people who hadn’t had our support from the beginning,
As our dream progressed, we moved into larger premises, a bungalow with an acre of land dedicated to the dogs, rented access to a further 40 acres of woodland and fields for exploring, and a 6 acre field to have further fun in.
We now have a wonderful team that works with us, each with their own skills and strengths and dedicated to provide animal care excellence.
Our mission statement is to help teach owners how to better bond and communicate with their dogs, teach them the skills a puppy needs to learn to survive in a human dominated world, to better understand the rules of dog walking etiquette, to ensure the dogs receive their needs met in daily exercise, stimulation and socialisation, to raise a well-balanced and behaved next generation of ambassadors for the dog world,
and ultimately, for the dogs to enjoy a life unleashed.
Have been sending my pooch to Camp K9 since he was 6 months old ( so over 4 years now ) and he loves it, more than being at home !!
